After the release of the latest “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” trailer, did Paramount Pictures actually think anyone would take a poster seriously? First off, I didn’t think Sienna Miller could ever look ugly, but her face in this poster is completely distorted. Then, you have Channing Tatum who looks like he’s taking a nap. Perhaps this whole good vs. evil idea would have been more effective using two separate posters. Anyway, here’s the poster courtesy of Empire Online.
The only disappointing thing about producer Dan Lin making a “Tomb Raider” prequel is that it would feature a much younger Lara Croft, which means no Angelina Jolie. It’s been about six years since the last film came out and I’m still shocked by how perfect she was for that role. Lin told About.com the new “Tomb Raider” will be an origin film that’ll be more realistic than the other two. There’s been a ton of buzz about having Megan Fox play the heroine. Yes she looks the part and has had some action experience with the “Transformers” series, but can she really carry an entire film?

USA Today has posted a gallery consisting of five images from “The Book of Eli.” The story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic world where a character played by Denzel Washington, Eli, must protect a book that holds the answers to saving mankind. Gary Oldman plays Carnegie, the leader of a town Eli stumbles upon and the man who tries to take the book. “The Book of Eli” is set to hit theaters on January 15th, 2010. Check out the photo to the right in which Eli finds the road leading to Carnegie’s town and click here to see the rest of the images.
For some reason I have a hard time imagining Guy Ritchie making a musical, but that’s just what the director of “Snatch” and the upcoming adventure flick “Sherlock Holmes” wants to do. According to The Sun, Ritchie has been given the okay to get moving on a new ”Guys and Dolls” film. The article cites a source that said Guy opted for this concept over a number of other offers. The original 1955 film was based on the Broadway production about a bet that gets complicated after the man falls for the woman he’s challenged to coax to go wit him to Havana.
He’s already played a gangster, drug lord and even Satan and now Dr. Death may be the newest addition to Al Pacino’s resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pacino is in negotiations to star in HBO Films’ biopic about Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Kevorkian had a hand in over 150 cases of suicide beginning in 1990. He was tried a number of times in Michigan, but it wasn’t until March of 1999 that he was convicted of second-degree homicide. He spent just over eight years in prison.

Dustin Hoffman is teaming up with Paul Giamatti for the indie drama “Barney’s Version.” According to Variety, the film is based on Mordecai Richler’s last novel, which is written in an autobiographic style. Hoffman will play the father of Barney (Giamatti), a guy who’s lived a turbulent life, which includes three marriages and two children. When he’s accused of being an intellectual fraud and murderer, Barney decides to write his own memoirs. Director Richard J. Lewis will begin principal photography on August 17th in Rome.
Ron Burgundy may not have signed off after all! According to Moviehole, Will Ferrell told radio duo Jono & Dano the gang is getting back together to discuss a potential “Anchorman” sequel next week.
Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wigg, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch? Sounds like a winning comedy cast to me! Variety reports that all five have signed on to be in “Paul,” a comedy about two sci-fi obsessed guys whose fantasies come true during a visit to Area 51 when they meet an alien. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost penned the script and will star as the two E.T. nuts. Rogen will use the skills he acquired voicing B.O.B. in “Monsters vs. Aliens” and lend his voice to the creature in this film.

According to Bloody-Disgusting the plan to turn “Castlevania” into a film has been trashed. The film would have been based on the popular videogame and focus on the origins of the Belmont Clan, a family of vampire-slayers who must defeat Dracula before he takes over the world.
