Shia LaBeouf proved his box-office clout once again as "Eagle Eye" landed at No. 1 with a $29.2 million debut weekend. The wunderkind proves that not only can his star power overcome weak reviews, bad PR (i.e. his recent car crash and arrest), but that he also doesn't need Indiana Jones or cool robots to lure audiences.
But he wasn't the only former child star with a big score at the multiplex. Kirk Cameron's "Fireproof", a Christian faith-based firefighter movie that wasn't screened for critics, took in big money in limited release, thanks to a campaign that targeted ticket sales with religious groups.
