As much as I like looking at Daniel Craig on the “Quantum of Solace” movie poster…I wish the producers had been more restrained in their image selection. Craig, aka James Bond is carrying an enormous gun…about the size of his arm. A gun more in tune with a caricature movie character such as Rambo or anyone played by Vin Diesel.

James bond started out his literary life carrying a berretta…then a Walther PPK and more recently the Walther P99. These are all guns that can be worn under a suit or a sleek tuxedo. Moreover, bond is trained to kill with his bare hands.

I hope it doesn’t bode ill for the coming film that the makers have placed a huge weapon in his hands. To me, it implies that the film might depend too much on firepower and gunplay rather than strategy and bondian quick wits. I hope I am wrong.
