If you haven’t caught on yet, catch on now! Apparently, there is a HUGE online battle via YouTube between the M&M Cru and AC/DC Crew. That is… the Miley (yes, Miley Cyrus) and Mandy Cru (crew spelled with a “U”) versus the Adam Chu Dance Crew. AC/DC was formed by Jon Chu, the director of “Step Up 2: The Streets,” and dancer Adam Sevani, who played Moose in the movie. The rest of the dance crew is composed of the actors/dancers from the film.
This whole showdown began in April, when AC/DC stumbled across Miley’s YouTube videos of her and her professional dancer friend, Mandy, doing dance tricks, fooling around, and giggling in their hotel rooms. Basically, they had nothing better to do. AC/DC challenged them to an online dance-off. AC/DC submitted their video first. M&M responded with their video hoping to top the other and so on.
Guest appearances included Chris Brown, Amanda Bynes, Adam Sandler, Diana Ross, Ryan Seacrest, Lindsey Lohan, Brittany Snow, and Pedro from “Napoleon Dynamite” all dished out their best moves for the competition. With the celeb back-up, publicity from this virtual challenge has shot through the roof. This came just in time for this week’s DVD and Blu-Ray release of “Step Up 2 the Streets.” I am simply amazed how far we have come with advertising. This definitely puts a new spin on creative promotions. Advertising has definitely stepped up thanks to modern technology.
