One of the early favorites in the summer 2009 blockbuster sweepstakes is Paramount's "G.I. Joe" movie. It's already well into production, and it's been the talk of massive online speculation ever since the movie was green lighted. No big surprise. There are millions of us 'YO JOE!' geeks out there, and a lot of us spend way too much time sifting through and passing along information about projects we're excited about. Not all of that information may be accurate, however....
It's been reported for months that Brendan Fraser is playing Gung Ho in the movie. But when he visited our 30 Rock studios to talk up his new film "Journey to the Center of the Earth", he told a very different story. It was also, like most everything Brendan says, pretty funny in a crazy, rambling sort of way. Here it is:

I asked Brendan if he were ever going to be a super vigilante hereo and he just laughed. I said to him man you got a body fit to play any kind of superhereo other than a Mummy slayer...before he could comment I said Don't get me wrong I loved Rick O' Connel but I could see you as Batman. No offense to Christain Bale. He just looked at me with the goofiest expression on his face and he busted out into fits of laughter. I refrained from the urge to kiss him right there.Sorry Afton.
