Talking about living the dream. Imagine being a Star Wars nut as a kid, then growing up to be a filmmaker. Someone with such skill in the animation world (doing work like "Avatar: The Last Airbender") that George Lucas himself, the Grand Poobah of the Star Wars galaxy, would handpick you to direct the first-ever animated Star Wars feature film, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," which opens August 15th.
Dave Filoni, this is your life!
We caught up with the director of "The Clone Wars" at Comic Con (he's also supervising the ongoing animated series that will follow the theatrical release). If you poll most hardcore SW fans - you know, obsessive guys like myself -- I think you'll find the Clone Wars is perhaps the most interesting era in the Star Wars mythos. I'm really glad Lucas chose this period to focus the animated film (and the subsequent series) on.
